3 months' cover, included in the price

Mechanical and electrical cover on every car we sell, as standard — not an upsell and not a box to tick at signing. What it covers, what it does not, and the conditions attached, all set out below.

3 months as standard

Included in the price of every car. Not an upsell, not a box to tick at signing.

Up to £1,000 a claim

Parts and labour on a covered component, up to £1,500 across the whole term. The car comes back to us and we carry out the work.

No excess

You do not pay the first slice of an authorised claim. Authorise it with us first and there is nothing to find.

You can extend it to 6, 12 or 24 months when you buy, and widen what is covered with it. We will quote you the figure and you can take it or leave it — the price of the car is the price of the car either way.

What’s covered

Engine
Internal lubricated components, cylinder head and head gasket.

Cooling
Water pump, thermostat and radiator.
Fuel & ignition
Mechanical fuel pump, coil packs and engine management sensors.
Electrics
Starter motor, alternator, window and central-locking motors.
Steering
Steering rack and power steering pump.
Braking
Master cylinder, calipers and servo.

What isn’t

Printed here rather than buried in clause 14, because finding out what a warranty excludes at the point you need it is the single most common complaint in this trade.

  • Wear items — tyres, brake pads and discs, wiper blades, bulbs, exhausts, batteries, clutch friction plate
  • Wear consistent with the age and mileage of the car, as opposed to a component failing before it should
  • Suspension and running gear — shock absorbers, springs, bushes, wheel bearings
  • Diesel particulate filters, EGR valves, injectors, turbochargers and dual-mass flywheels
  • Air conditioning, infotainment, navigation, cameras, sensors and driver-assistance systems
  • Servicing, and any fault caused or worsened by servicing missed, late, or done off-schedule
  • Damage from an accident, misuse, overheating, track or competition use, towing beyond the rated limit, or the wrong fuel
  • Bodywork, paint, glass, trim, upholstery and corrosion of any kind
  • Faults that existed and were disclosed when you bought the car, and anything noted as an advisory at the point of sale
  • Any repair started before we authorised it, and any consequential loss — hire, recovery, storage, loss of earnings
  • Betterment — where a repair leaves the car better than it was, you pay the difference

Conditions of cover

A warranty is a contract, and these are the parts of it you have to hold up. They are here in full rather than in a document you get handed at the end, because a claim refused on a condition nobody mentioned is the thing that turns a repair into a complaint.

  1. The car is serviced on the manufacturer's schedule, by a VAT-registered garage, and you keep the invoices. We can ask to see them before authorising a claim.
  2. You call us and get an authorisation number BEFORE any work starts. Work carried out without one is not covered.
  3. The car comes back to us and we arrange the repair. We do not authorise work at a garage of your own choosing, so please do not book anything in — call us and we will sort it from there.
  4. You stop driving the car as soon as a fault appears. Damage caused by carrying on is not covered.
  5. The car is not used for hire or reward, driving tuition, couriering, racing or off-road use.

Cover is not available on vehicles over 15 years old or above 150,000 miles at the point of sale; where a car falls outside that we say so on the listing and price it accordingly. The warranty covers the vehicle, not the owner, and is not transferable if you sell it on. None of this affects your statutory rights, which no condition here can shorten.

Consumer Rights Act 2015

This sits on top of your rights in law

Every car we sell you comes with rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. They apply whether or not there is a warranty on the car and whether or not anyone mentions them, and the warranty above is in addition to them — it does not replace them and nothing in it can shorten them.

If something has gone wrong, call us first and we will sort it. If we get it wrong, our complaints procedure is the next step, and it is a real one.

Something gone wrong?

Call us before you book anything in anywhere. Warranty work is done by us — the car comes back here and we sort the repair — so an invoice from another garage is not something we can pay, however good the reason. One phone call and it is our problem rather than yours.

Or put it in writing

Tell us the registration and what the car is doing. We aim to come back to you the same day, and will always do so within one.

Either one is enough — whichever you would rather we used.
